Industrial Design
Elitone is an FDA-cleared, external treatment for stress urinary incontinence designed to strengthen the pelvic floor without an internal device.
Elidah came to Leadoff Studio to redesign the first-generation Elitone controller. The technology was established, but the physical product didn’t reflect the sophistication of the treatment—or the investment customers were making in it. The V1 of the product felt like hospital equipment, instead of something carried with you in everyday life.
For the second generation, we set out to build trust through design: making Elitone feel more refined, intuitive, and approachable while maintaining the credibility essential to a medical device.

Designing Trust
For a product addressing an already sensitive condition, perception matters. If a device feels complicated, intimidating, or inexpensive, it can create friction before treatment even begins.
We replaced the original flat, engineering-driven form with softer, more intentional surfacing. Subtle indentations around the buttons create an hourglass-like grip, naturally guiding the hand toward the primary interaction points. Rather than relying on visual instruction, the form itself helps communicate how the device should be held and used.

Refining Form Around the Technology
While the exterior could change, the internal package could not. Electronics, battery, PCB, electrode connection, display, buttons, and overall footprint all had to remain.
The challenge was creating a slim, continuous exterior around those fixed constraints. Through sketching, 2D form studies, CAD exploration, intensive surfacing, and physical prototypes, we refined proportions and ergonomics while maintaining the clearances, assembly requirements, and manufacturability the device demanded.

Making Every Interaction Intentional
The original buttons felt visually disconnected from the housing. We simplified them into smooth surfaces that follow the curvature of the body, with raised (+) and (–) symbols and recessed interaction areas that are easy to identify by sight and touch. The arched display was similarly integrated into the surrounding form.
CMF reinforced the same sense of care. Stark glossy white became a warm cream and ivory tone with a fine matte texture, while black printed logos were replaced with subtle glossy debossed branding. Sky blue and peach accents distinguish Elitone and Elitone Urge while connecting both products to Elidah’s broader brand.
Even the clip was redesigned to feel integrated rather than added on—contouring closely to the controller while remaining low-profile and comfortable against the body.
The second-generation Elitone was refined as a complete experience: one designed to make an intimate treatment feel easier to trust, understand, and bring into everyday life.
